Return & Refund Policy

At Outboard Source, we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you are not entirely happy with your order, we are here to help.

1. Return Window

You have 14 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it. If 14 days have passed since your delivery, unfortunately, we cannot offer you a refund or exchange.

2. Eligibility for Returns

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it.

  • Unused & Uninstalled: The motor or part must not have been mounted, installed, or used.

  • Original Packaging: It must be in the original crate or box with all manuals, warranty cards, and accessories included.

  • NO GAS OR OIL: Crucial: Once gasoline or oil has been added to an outboard motor, it is no longer returnable due to hazardous materials shipping regulations. If you have added fluids and are experiencing technical issues, please refer to the manufacturer’s warranty.

3. Restocking Fees

Due to the size and weight of outboard motors, a restocking fee of 15% will be applied to all non-defective returns. This fee covers the cost of inspection, repackaging, and inventory management.

4. Return Shipping

  • Customer Remorse: Customer pays actual return freight costs.

  • Defective/Damaged: Outboard Source covers return shipping costs.

  • Freight Items: For large motors delivered via Freight (LTL), you must arrange return shipping via a freight carrier. We can assist in scheduling the pickup, but the cost will be deducted from your final refund.

  • Insurance: We strongly recommend using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

5. Refund Process

Once we receive your item, we will inspect it to ensure it meets the criteria above.

  1. To start a return, please email us at info@outboardsource.com or call us at +1 (270) 605-9555 to receive a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA).”

  2. Inspection: We will notify you of the status of your refund after inspecting the item (usually within 2-3 business days).

  3. Payment: If your return is approved, we will initiate a refund to your credit card (or original method of payment). You will receive the credit within 5-10 days, depending on your card issuer’s policies.

6. Defective or Damaged Items

If you received a defective product, please contact us immediately.

  • Shipping Damage: Must be reported within 24 hours of delivery. Please refer to our Shipping Policy regarding inspecting freight upon arrival.

  • Warranty Issues: If an engine has a mechanical defect after use, this is covered under the Manufacturer’s Warranty, not this return policy. We will happily assist you in locating your nearest authorized service center for repairs.
